Church Roofs and More!

One of the cool ways we get to support our partners in Malawi, the Grace Alliance Church, is by helping to put roofs on churches. Here’s the story of a church roof that is going on right now!

Pastor Milanzi and his church members built this church a couple of years ago. The most expensive part of building a church is putting on a roof. Bricks can be molded by hand, firewood can be gathered to burn the bricks and if necessary, the walls can be plastered together with mud instead of cement (yes, Malawi has great clay soil.) But timbers to build the rafters and iron sheets must be bought with money and that’s not always easy to come by for subsistence farmers.

After building the church, Milanzi and his leadership team began saving money to purchase the timbers for rafters. Meanwhile, here at COH, we sent out a message asking for donations for iron sheets for the church roofs. I love the team work in this!

Earlier in October, the iron sheets were delivered and this week the work began on the Kandeu Grace Alliance Church. How exciting!

Please pray for Pastor Milanzi and his ministry. He was such a huge help to us at the Grace Center and we are grateful for the time he dedicated to helping us put things in order there. We are thankful to see him back in full time pastoral ministry where his heart truly rests!

Hear a little from him: “In December 2021, we started going on door to door evangelism sharing with people about Jesus. 36 people gave their lives to Christ during this time. We’ve been teaching them about what it means to follow Jesus and now they’re ready to be baptized. Brothers and sisters, I ask that you please pray for these people to be established in their faith in Jesus.”
