Community Impact Team 2007 Slideshow
Our 2007 Community Impact Team was greeted at the airport by our hosts.
We were ready for whatever Malawi might bring to us!
Whether that was riding a donkey cart to get a load of manure for the composting bins;
Or carrying water for cooking and baths.
It wasn't always easy to sleep in a tent, live outdoors and cook over a fire;
But the opportunity to live and work together with our Malawian friends was priceless.
Through many different kinds of lessons, like English lessons;
Playing games;
Blowing bubbles;
We were able to interact with the children and get to know them by name.
Chikumbutso gets a new blanket from Debbie.
Lufius gets his face painted by Susanna.
There is nothing more precious than a small hand reaching out to find yours.
It wasn't all fun and games. We worked hard clearing fields for the gardens;
Moving huge rocks for the flower garden;
Building the sign.
At the end of the day our feet were dirty and our backs were tired. But that is not what we remember.
We remember the beautiful faces, smiling with joy over a toothbrush.
The laughter of happy children.
Our hearts were broken by the poverty we saw;
But deeply moved by the opportunity to join the community that is working together to make a difference, Circle of Hope International.
