| Get Involved
Ready
to join our community? We need YOU to make the vision of Circle
of Hope International a reality. There are lots of ways to get involved
from baking cookies to volunteering a few hours, recycling cans
to joining a team traveling to Malawi.
Ways you can give
Ways your group can get
involved
Ideas that don't involve
cash!
Get Serious! We often say
that we are interested in doing something. We talk about it, but
somehow it never gets done. We are asking you to get serious about
your commitment to Circle of Hope.” Will you make a serious
decision to commit to Circle of Hope International? Your monthly
donation of $10, $25 or $100 will go a long way toward making a
big difference to the Namanda community in Malawi.
Build a Building: We have
purchased two pieces of property and been given a third piece in
Malawi. Lots of land, but no buildings. Our next phase of development
includes building houses, classrooms, a library, a store, a workshop,
barns and much more. Houses and classrooms costs about $6000 each.
Would you help us raise this money? Give a financial donation toward
these building projects or keep reading to see how your group can
raise money for the buildings.
Keep Eating! Not you!! Our
kids. Just like you, we have to buy groceries every week! Our regular
budget includes purchasing food for the children. It takes $18 a
day to feed our 250 children. You can provide food for one day or
for an entire week.
Agricultural Training Center: One
of our most exciting projects is the training center that is being
set up at the Namanda Community Development Center. This program
will be training local farmers to produce good crops using conservation
farming methods, composting and green fertilizers. Your gift of
$10, $25 or $100 will provide training for these farmers. Help make
a difference in the fight against poverty.
Take a trip: It is never
too early to start planning for next summer. We are putting together
our Community Impact Teams for Summer 2008 and we would love to
have you along for the adventure of a life-time. We will have three
teams going to Malawi in June and July, 2008. Each team will be
two weeks long. For these teams we need teachers, nurses, builders,
strong able-bodied workers, seamstresses, artists, business people
and more! Contact us for more information about our 2008 Community
Impact Teams.
Build the Library: We are
excited about building a library for the Namanda community. One
of the important lessons we are teaching is literacy. These lessons
will include both children and adults as our Community Development
Center is completed. To improve the literacy of the Namanda community,
we are asking for your help to establish our library. This project
is a great opportunity for schools and children’s groups.
We need to raise money to purchase books in Chichewa (the local
language), shelves, desks and chairs for this project.
School Supplies: School will
be starting soon here in America. In Malawi, the new school year
starts in January. We would like to provide all our students with
a new book bag, pencils, pens, writing paper, math set and scissors.
We need people to sew book bags. We need pens, pencils, math sets
and scissors purchased to be taken to Malawi in January. We also
need some cash to buy writing paper in Malawi. This is a great project
for your class to take on.
Uniforms: Many of our children
are having a difficult time staying in school because they do not
have a uniform for school. Your organization can help raise money
for purchasing uniforms for the children. Each uniform costs $4.
The total cost for uniforms is $1000.
Volunteer: We need
people who would like to give of their time to help with administration,
communications, fundraising, curriculum development and more. If
you have a few hours a week or month you would like to give please
contact us.
Send A Sweater: Are
you sorting through old children’s clothes? Don’t just
pack those sweaters and other clothes back into the closet, send
them to Malawi. We would like to send some children’s sweaters
and clothing (sizes 4T to adult small) to our COH kids on our next
trip.
Nice used clothing for our workers:
We have nine people volunteer their time four days a week to cook
for the children, they also teach, provide medical care, counseling
and love for the children. If you have nice clothing: long skirts
sizes 8 or 10, blouses size small or medium, slacks or khakis size
32 or 34 waist 30 inch inseam, size 8 or 9 shoes men or women, we
would really love to take care packages to each of our workers filled
with a set of clothes.
Save the earth, save our children:
By recycling 30 empty aluminum cans, we can feed lunch to 20 children
in Malawi. Start saving cans today and tell all your friends that
they can save the world too! Set up boxes at work and school. We
will be happy to provide a sign that you can print off to hang on
the box. Check with your local recycling center to see what cans
are worth in your area.
Bake Sale: By selling
cakes, pies, cookies, etc, we can provide good nutritious food for
our orphans and vulnerable children. Your group can hold a bake
sale to raise money for the many development projects taking place
through Circle of Hope International. The Wilmore/Nicholasville,
Kentucky Bake Sale will be held on October 6.
Open House: Would you
be willing to open your home and talk about Circle of Hope International?
We will provide you with a speaker, materials and a video. You provide
food and friends. The idea is to share about the exciting things
happening at Circle of Hope International and to raise money for
the projects.
Set up a speaking event: Do
you have a connection with a church, small group, or community organization?
We are looking for groups where we can present an opportunity to
join the community of Circle of Hope International. Please contact
us if you can provide us with the opportunity to speak before any
size group.
The vision of Circle of Hope International is to build a Compassionate
Community. That means bringing together people from all over the
world who have a heart for the poor. While every person's role will
be different, we can join together to make a difference by working
to alleviate suffering and giving those who are oppressed a voice
to speak out.
If
you would like to learn more about getting involved please contact
us.
